Kippy (formerly Spike) Helloooo! Just thought I'd send you an update on my gorgeous little man, Kippy. He has settled in so well, loves to sit on my shoulder when I cook and keeps my lap warm when I'm studying. He also loves leaping up walls while chasing torchlight and playing hide-and-seek. He really is the most adorable little treasure and I can't imagine what I ever did without him! THANK YOU

Cuddles (formerly Celia) Only recently we lost our 15yo darling boy (Snoopy) ... totally devastated would be a reasonably apt description of how we felt. The thought of getting another moggy at the time was not on the agenda ... UNTIL ... we checked out the SDCH website and came across one of their Golden Oldies (Celia 12yo) We were quite sad because not too many people want to adopt older cats like her and therefore it wouldn't be too long before the ultimate decision to ..... well let's not go there, so we had our friend Dr. Ben check her out and he gave her a pretty clean bill of health ....... So adoption of Celia it was, into the carry box and off home.
That was 2 weeks
ago ....Well what can we say ...We have just absolutely
fallen in love with this very tiny but beautiful, special
and loving Elderly Feline .... she took such a long time to
settle into her new home ... like all of about 10 minutes
... she of course now sleeps in all the best places Thanks to SDCH for holding onto this little treasure for so long, they must have known something. We will give her loads of love and affection and hopefully she will see out quite a few more of her twilight years with us and I have no doubt she will repay us in kind many many times over ....... We can only recommend to anyone thinking of adopting, please consider taking on one of the "Golden Oldies", like us, we're sure you won't be disappointed. |

Oliver Hi all at SDCH Just wanted to let you know that Oliver has settled in really well. He loves to climb into my arms for a cuddle when my alarm goes off in the morning and again about lunch time - my first lap cat!! Even though he is blind he climbs up to the 4th platform on the scratching post and ambushes the other cats when they walk past. Last week I caught my tabby (who is about the same age) teaching him how to use the cat flap. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself!! So now he can sit out on the balcony in the sun whenever he likes. It is a very harmonious household. Thank you so much for rescuing him and looking after him until I came along.
Cheers! |

Tyger We lost our wonderful tabby boy Calvin at 14 and never thought another cat could make us happy again. Well we were wrong! I was perusing your website to find another companion and got to talking to one of your volunteers, Megan, by email. I told her of our reticence to get another cat at the time but she suggested we travel up from Canberra and look at Tiger who was 5 months old and had been found wandering in someone's backyard when he was 5 weeks old.
Well that was 4
months ago now, and whilst we so miss our Calvin, his spirit
guides our beautiful Tyger around the place and Ty often
mimmicks his behaviour. He's a lovely 9 month old boy now
who is just so adaptable, a sweet and happy cat who uses a
log as his pillow in front of the fire at Many thanks Kathryn & Tony

Rover Hello, Here's an update on how lovely Rover is going. I adopted Rover last November (see his kitten photo attached) and he has settled into his new home wonderfully. Whoever named Rover must've seen his personality to a "T" - I kept the name and he is like a little puppy dog. He follows me everywhere and we have hours (literally - hours) of entertainment playing fetch with bits of scrunched up paper - I throw it, he brings it back to me and on it goes. My other cat who is 11 has also found a new lease on life and the two enjoy chasings and playful wrestling until the obligatory afternoon catnap. Rover is a happy and incredibly healthy cat, growing massively over the last year, and is a delight to be around - so very cheeky.
Regards

Sage Hi Sage came home to my unit on Tuesday 22 July and has settled in very well. She loves eating, running and jumping and is interested in everything. She also enjoys lying on the lounge in front of the heater while I scratch her head and back and she likes to snuggle under the bedcovers and smooch. Julie |

Snowball Hello Everyone, I am writing to let everyone know Snowball the little deaf, different coloured eye cat is doing fantastic! Poor Snowball his first few weeks at home were awful, he was so ill & ended up in the cat hospital fighting for his life, Five minutes before he was going to be put down, he decided he wanted to live so much that against all odds, he had a surge of life, he ate a whole bowl of food & started playing, much to the vets surprise. She let him come home, His brothers & sisters were so happy to see him, that they all cleaned him:) Snowball has been lucky he also had someone associated with SDCH help him a lot, Without their help Snowball would not be as well off as he is now. So Snowie sends Megan his Biggest Purr & lots of Love! At his worst Snowies weight dropped to 900 Grams. He is Now 6 months & weighs Just over 3 Kilos, he is a Miracle cat, who is a terror with a Mission, This little bugger overcame all odds, he is so loved & adored by all who meet him, So thank-you for bringing this little man into our lives. Our farm Family is complete! Love Always Kylie, Ang, Merlin, Casper, Palms, Muggels & Snowball |

Clifford To everyone at the Sydney Dogs and Cat Home, We adopted "Clifford" a couple of weeks ago. We didn't really want a boy cat but we are now so pleased. Clifford is everything we were told he would be. He is very affectionate and playful. He has just started spending his days outside and comes in of an evening. He is a big sook and we are very glad that we decided on him when we came to adopt. Thanking you all, The O'Toole Family |

Taj and Sinbad Hi everyone, this is Taj and Sinbad. We were adopted two weeks ago and are now living in sunny Maroubra! We were both very sick, but no-one realised until we got to our new home.
Taj (my ginger
brother) had awful cat flu and I had pneumonia and it was
very touch and go, hence a 5 day stay at the vets on a drip.
With a lot of TLC and hand feeding from my new parents, a
week later I was feeling a little better and able to eat on
my own. Another week, and some more medicine later (which I
admit I dont like much), I am feeling much better and am
getting nice and plump and my fur is lovely and silky. My
little bro is heaps better, loves his food and is playing
around and annoying me most of the time. I reckon that in
another week I will be giving him a run for his money! They told me they are VERY GRATEFUL to everyone at the Sydney dog and cat home - if they hadn't seen us on the website, they wouldn't have rushed over the next day to adopt us and we wonder where we would be now...? Thank you for all the good work you do in helping those with four paws to find new homes. Sincerely yours, Taj and SInbad X I have attached pictures taken this morning, the cat in the middle is a pedigree Siamese called Louis who is 7. He looks after us. I am at the back. |

Harry Hello EVERYONE at Sydney Dogs & Cats Home. We thought it was time for an update! Harry has become a huge part of our family. He has 2 little girl kittens he plays with in the family on a regular basis and we'll be moving in with them soon, so he'll have maximum playtime all the time! We bought a new digital camera to take loads of kitty shots, and whilst at first Harry was very scared of cameras, he's quickly becoming a seasoned poser. We had a rough couple of months at first with very bad ringworm (that was shared with myself and my boyfriend), which delayed his vaccinations and desexing, but we've come through everything at the other side fully vaccinated, desexed and extremely healthy (and if the nudges in the face every morning with the deafening purring is anything to go by extremely happy also!). So much for being a tiny cat for life, he has big paws and a huge fluffy tail that he's yet to grow into, and at around 8 months old (1 month ago) weighed in at just under 3.5kg! Our local vet has told us he should be a big boy at around 6kg when fully grown and is looking like he'll be a very broad cat and you can already tell he'll be a very handsome kitty :) We still don't really like cuddles unless it's 100% on his terms, and he sleeps on the bed with us now (if he's not running around giving us a restless night!). Harry loves sleeping in the sunny lounge room in front of the window all day becoming a warm crispy kitty, then wakes up each evening for running around and play while dinner is cooked. Tuna in oil and sardines are favourite treats, but he's more than happy to feast only on his Eukenuba kitten food. Thankyou so much for letting us adopt him! I can't imagine life without my little Harry. I hope you help all of the animals find loving forever families, where they can all be just as happy as our little family. Please see our new poser photos! (who says kitties don't like cat carriers?) From Sally (Harry would have written himself, but he's too busy getting warm in the afternoon sun on the couch next to me). |

Salvatore Salvatore was adopted by me over 2 years ago. He is a beautiful big fluffy cat. Along with my other cat, Sammy whom I adopted from the cat adoption society as a kitten 8 years ago, life has become an adventure. I do travel nurse assignments and my pets come with me. Sal loves exploring new places. He has spent 3 months in Qld going as far north as Gladstone and now we are in Cowra. Travelling with pets is not a problem pet friendly accom can always be found Kathy |

Ty (formerly Tiger) Hi everyone, Well we are home with Tiger (we're going to call him Ty so his name will be spelt Tyger now). We travelled well on the way home to Canberra, he's so laid back. Settled in really quickly though a little upset in the tummy with all that went on through the day and possibly his vaccination. He now has taken up position in all spots around the townhouse, running up and down the stairs, and with the ever watchful eye of the spirit of our departed Calvin who is 'showing him the ropes'. Of course Ty ended up sleeping on the bed last night between us, purring loudly. Thank you so much for all you did to give us a new companion. We admire the work you all do there at the Home there and will always recommend fellow animal lovers to keep the SDCH in mind. We will keep in touch as to Tyger's progress. With much thanks Kathryn & Tony |

This morning he was following us every were we went. I and my family love Felix lots. From Siobhan Felix`s owner. p.s. again I love Felix and hope all the other cats and dogs are going well. |

Sammy Hi all at SDH, We were very excited to see our boy Sammy become part of your website as the (cats re-homed face). We have had him now for just over 15 months, he is an absolute character, a typical loud affectionate siamese. And we all adore him. This is a picture of him after shredding our stairs, one of his favourite past times. |

Don OMG! We could not be more in love with the nutty Don if we tried! The minute I saw his pic on your website I was gone! Considering we already had three cats I thought it was going to take some pretty fast talking to convince my hubby that Don needed to be with us! Not so! That pic worked wonders on him too! Don has settled in well, He gets along with his cat brothers and his little human brother! Its like he has always lived with us! His crazy extroverted personality amuses and entertains us everyday! He is such a loving affectionate lil fella, TOO loving and affectionate at times iykwim!!!!! Never for a second have we regretted giving him a forever home and now, we honestly could not imagine life without him. We are totally and utterly gone for Don (he is draped across my keyboard and purring his lil whiskas off as I write this!!!) Thank you for bringing this gorgeous sweet boy into our lives. 'Tara |

Orlando Orlando (generally known by one of 50+ silly names including "Mr Fluffy Pantaloons", "Honey Bunny", "Floofy-floof") is doing great in his new home. He was adopted from the shelter back in December.
He's a loving,
laid back little guy and is very well behaved. Trimming his
nails is no problem, and he loves his scratching post (I've
never seen him try use any furniture). He loves being picked
up and is surprisingly patient with children- girls flock to
him, women tell him how handsome he is, and
Your description
of him was quite accurate though, other cats stress him out
(though there's at least one exception), so he wasn't
presenting himself in the best light at the shelter. But in
his own home he likes to follow people from room to room and
greet them coming home, make funny meow-trilling He's been described as "like a plushie" and mistaken for a kitten because of his huge, adorable eyes. As winter approaches his soft fluffy warmness will be even more appreciated.
Thank you, |

Rufus (previously known as Bluey) Three weeks ago, I got in my car and went on a trip all the way to The Sydney Dogs and Cats Home in Carlton in search of a feline friend. Upon arrival I had no doubt that I was in the right place, as I was greeted from the street by the howls of many dogs waiting for adoption. Inside, I was overwhelmed with the number of sweet little personalities all waiting for a new home. How on earth was I to choose just one cat for adoption? Well, in the end I met a cute little 4 month old ginger kitten called Bluey and I knew he was the one. He now rejoices in the name of Rufus and I think he's just as delighted to be here as I am to have him here. He's settled in very nicely and is the most adorable little fellow. He loves getting on a lap and nuzzling into one's body, purring as loudly as he can. He's very fond of his food and in fact I think he's set up a movement detector in the kitchen, just to make sure he never misses an opportunity! So important is he in his new family that his grandparents, laden with treats, just drove 500kms from the country to come and meet him at Easter. Snuggling aside, Rufie is not adverse to a wild gallop around the flat and launching himself as a feline missile from his scratching post is another favourite occupation. He absolutely adores the toy mouse given to him on departure from the Sydney Dogs and Cats Home. This is his most prized toy and he marches around showing off his "kill" to all around. So, thank you to the Sydney Dogs and Cats Home for giving this beautiful little fellow a start in life. He's now much loved and gives every appearance of being very content with his new life. |

Stanley (previously known as Rove)
Hello!
I have a nice
life in my new city flat, and prefer being indoors than
outdoors, where I still get a little scared! I do sleep and
eat a lot, but I have lots of cuddles and fun and I can show
off my playful and mischievous streak in the evenings when
chasing ping-pong balls and elastic bands up and I hope that you are able to house all your other cats, and thank you for rescuing me and putting me in touch with my new owners! Stanley the cat, aged 5 |

Bronwyn You say: 'Thank you for saving one of our cats' - we say thank YOU - for providing us with our little girl cat. We knew as soon as we saw her in her cage, that she was the one for us. A bit older than we had anticipated (18 months) but that also came with benefits, as she was litter trained, and such a dear little thing. She had a slow start, as she had cat flu, so was put in the 'isolation ward' till she recovered. Well, she lost her appetite and we were asked if we would be prepared to take her home as the vets felt that she would get better much quicker if she was in her new home where she could get some one on one affection and TLC. It was like going to pick up a sick child from hospital - we were a bit trepidant - but we needn't have been. From day one she responded to lots of love and affection. She ate very well and soon started to make our home hers. This photo was taken just three weeks after coming out of the shelter. Isn't she gorgeous? Bill and Margaret |

Poppet and Nova Hi All, Just thought you'd love to see this pic of our two SDCH adoptees. Nova (Belgian Shepherd Cross) was adopted by us in November 2004. I spotted him on my volunteer orientation day, and it was love at first sight. He was listed as an older dog (approx 8yo at the time), and was finding it hard to find his forever home. Three years later, he's still going strong, although starting to slow down a little. At the time he was a little timid of strangers, and any unfamiliar voices or sudden noises would have him running for cover. Now, he is happy to greet anyone he comes across! Poppet was originally fostered by us in April 2005, with her three kittens, which all sadly passed away from cat flu. She then became a wonderful surrogate mother to a kitten who was abandoned at the shelter. Again, Poppet was a very timid cat, and after her adopted kitten was rehomed, we decided she should not spend any more time in the shelter, so she also came to live with us. She has since come out of her shell, although still shy around visitors. I used to be one of those people who thought it would be near impossible to have a cat and dogs share the same house, but as you can see from the photo, our two pets are very comfortable in each others company. If anything, you could probably say Poppet is the boss! To anyone thinking of adopting, you wil'l never look back.

Chloe (formerly Cola) Hi I adopted 'Cola' (Tabby Persian X, approx 3yrs old) in Nov last year and noticed she never appeared on your website & she'd love to let you know how happy she is! I have re-named her "Chloe' and am delighted with her. She is very adorable, very well behaved and my purrfect little house mate. She lays on the bed, right beside my face ready for me to wake up, so she's the first thing I see. Sometimes I trick her and turn my face to the other side before opening my eyes and she climbs across me to the other side to get in position ready! If she thinks she's being ignored (which she never is!) again I am playing with her, she reaches up with one paw and very gently puts her paw on the side of my face to let me know she's there! Thank you! Kindest Regards Claire |

Simba Hi everyone - Just letting you know our wonderful cat that we adopted from you about 6 weeks ago has settled in very well to his new home and is a much loved member of our family. The name Simba really suited him so we decided to keep it and he knows his name now and comes when you call him - when it suits him. He loves eating, and chicken wings are one of his favourites. He is very, very affectionate and has the loudest purr. He still loves drinking straight from the tap. Except for some occasional minor clashes of personality, he is getting on well with his new 'sister.' Thank you to everyone at Sydney Dogs and Cats Home for looking after our special boy until we came to take him home. Your efforts are much appreciated and we wish you the best of luck in finding homes for all your beautiful cats. Warm regards, The Deeneys |

Harry To Everyone at Sydney Dogs & Cats Home, I'm settling in well with my mummy and daddy after being picked up yesterday. I was a bit laid back yesterday with the shock of vaccination, microchipping and worming along with a car trip home and new litter tray and my own water and food and toys (which I showed no interest in)! I've just started acting like a kitten late last night and this afternoon. I searched through the "allowed" rooms of my new home yesterday as soon as I got out of my cat carrier, to find nice little hidey holes (2 purrrrfect places were found instantly, one under the telephone and another in the tv unit!). It's not very fair when daddy is home because it means I have to share the couch with 2 big people rather than getting the whole couch to myself or sharing just with mummy! Mummy tackled my fleas this morning with an all round flea killer, after the flea collar we bought yesterday was completely rejected! I don't want to know about my scratching pole and would rather take running leaps at the couch, or try different leaping combinations of the metal bits on the dining room chairs. They're loads of fun and I had a great little route worked out last night, leaping over 2 at a time, then continuing to the bottom of the bookshelf and around the couch! And to think mummy was a little aprehensive that I'm her first cat, and maybe we wouldn't like each other?! I'm already trying to get to her destination before she gets there! I have to learn not to walk over mummy's notebook when she's working, or chew cables (I'd rather them than my toys!) So thank you very much for letting my mummy adopt me and call me Harry (I love my name and knew it by the time we got home, along with my nicknames from mum like, muffin top, munchkin face, angelcake, cupcake)! I haven't been a cat long and mummy hasn't had a cat before so we're both learning very quickly! So thank you again, and I'll be sure to send you another email! Please see how happy I am in my photo (this was taken on mummy's notebook webcam, I'm unsure of it, because it looks like another kittie is in her computer!) I don't like my photo taken, or don't stay still long enough for a good photo so this is a rare thing! Take care of all my little friends, and please try and find them homes just as fun as mine!

Sox Hello, I just wanted to let you know how Sox was doing. We adopted Sox in March 2007 when he was four months old. Initially he was quite timid, especially after leaving his four brothers behind. He is now just over a year old and is the most affectionate beautiful cat. We love him to bits and as you can see he makes full use of the lounge facilities. I also wanted to say a big thank you for all the hard work you do for these animals. Julie |

Holly and Niki It's now nearly 11 months since we took over the Gates household. We have them very well trained, as our every need is met. We are even allowed to conduct hunts of one another up and down the hall late at night. As you can see from our photos we have put on weight. I (Holly) now look like a beautiful Norwegian Forest Cat with a lovely thick tail. Meanwhile, I (Niki) am a sleek graceful princess and I am quite vocal about my creature comforts, while Holly seems to be a little quieter in her demands, though she does growl like a dog sometimes. Our human servants don't know how they managed without us. Happy Christmas from Holly and Nikita (15 November 2007) |

Sparkle When I was in the Sydney Dogs & Cats Home you called me Sparkle. My mummy and daddy adopted me in April 2006 when I was one year old. They thought the name Sparkle suited me perfectly so they let me keep the name. I am the boss of my new home, especially the four dogs. There are lots of cuddles and opportunities to play. And there are lots of good comfy places to sleep. The food is good and everybody loves me. Most of all I like snuggling up to somebody and purring. I'm mostly an indoors cat which puts me in a good position with the dogs because they get tossed out when mummy and daddy go out. On weekends I'm sometimes allowed out during daylight hours. Mostly I stay in the backyard and I have a favourite place to rest on the verandah. That's where I am in the photo. Thank you for looking after me when I was in your shelter until I was adopted. I am very happy in my new home. And my new family is very happy with me. I'm very good and come when I am called, just like the dogs. I eat all my food and don't scratch the vet when I have to visit him. I hope you are able to get new homes for all the other cats and dogs who end up in the Sydney Dogs & Cats Home. Wishing you very well, Sparkle (14 November 2007) |

Holly Hello everyone, Almost two years ago on the 27th December, 2005, my partner and I adopted a little tabby kitten from you. You called her Shirley. She was so loving and special that we decided that she needed a loving and special name to suit, so we called her Holly in celebration of the time of year we adopted her. When we visited your shelter, we walked into your room which housed the kittens/cats and I feel Shirley/Holly chose us to be her forever parents without a doubt. You can't ignore a furkid who does 'figure 8's" around your legs and who won't 'let you' get close to other cats, not while she's around anyway! She has grown into a very big girl. We thought she was a small kitten when we got her. Wow, but wow, she's grown so much. She's loves a belly rub, but she doesn't like being held and as for her being a lap cat, forget it, but we wouldn't swap her for all the money in the world. She loves us and we love her and she's made our lives richer for having adopted her. I just want to say thank you on behalf of Holly/Shirley and us. Linda

A-Kasha Hello all. A-Kasha, formerly known as Tina (yes we did change her name), was adopted on Sunday September 9th. A-Kasha has settled in really well despite a few early clashes of personalities with her two older "brothers" Simon and Vinnie. A-Kasha is lots of fun. She loves climbing, running and trying to fly and is always full of energy. This excess energy also sees her trying a spot of gardening, helping get the potting mix out of the bag is her speciality. However the strawberries will never be the same again. She charms anyone who comes to see her and impresses them with her smooches and cute innocent face. Once charmed, the audience is then wowed by her try-hard flying skills, flexibility and lightning fast reflexes. She does also rest at times and loves nothing more than curling up on the couch watching a spot of TV. A-Kasha has been a great addition to our family and her "brothers" love her and protect her. She has a great personality and we hope that never changes. I want to thank you all for your help and for taking the time to spend with us on the day. It was great having people there to talk to about each cat and what they did and didn't like. A-Kasha was not our first choice but we still fell in love with her on the day and are glad we took her home. She is well and truly a member of our family now. Suzie |

Oscar Hi Tracey Oscar has settled in SO well. Initially he was very shy and stressed (for about 2 days) and he is still a very quiet little guy who keeps away from the four teenagers in our house. But he loves me and jumps on my lap at every opportunity. He rolls on his back all the time, stretches, and meows for attention. He is just the most adorable addition to our home. Thank you so much for caring for him. We really appreciate all that you have done. We look after him very well, and he spends his days at the end of our pool area in the garden, coming out to play with his 'step-brother' Vimpy. In the photo here, is Oscar (at the front) and Vimpy behind. So - once again, thank you. You do a wonderful job. We live in the Hills District and I wish we were closer to the Sydney Dogs & Cats Home. I would be there to help with the animals whenever I could. You all do a great job. Kind regards Jenny (16 September 2007) |

Wendy Hi there, We saved Wendy from the shelter 4 years ago, she was such a tiny cat I thought she was a kitten. She is still small but has a huge belly from being spoilt with treats all the time. Wendy loves lots of pats and scratches and I think she would be great in a circus because she does lots of tricks, putting things in her mouth and throwing them up in the air and also does lots of tumbles and jumps. Wendy's very loved and happy and we are lucky that she chose to come home with us. De (14 August 2007) |

Jools (formerly known as April) Hi there, Just wanted to let you know how Jools is doing. I adopted Jools (formerly known as April) in September 2005. Jools has the most wondrous, infectious personality with her quirky ways with a beautiful purr and trill. She loves to be patted and spoiled and likes to talk to me when I get home from work each day ... she is always waiting at the front door when I arrive home from work each night. She now has a new Dad as I was recently married and he has fallen madly in love with Jools as well. I wanted to let you know how much happiness Jools brings to my life, she is so a treasure to have in our home. Nadine (9 August 2007) |

Shanook Hi Shanook (black & white) had no name when we adopted her in 2005 as she had only been at the St George shelter for 4 days. She is our little princess with an attitude who rules the roost over her big "little" brother Atreyu who was rescued from another shelter a year later. Shanook is not big on affection but is slowly coming around to us and learning to keep her claws in when playing! Her sooky brother is teaching her how to bring out her softer side and work through her "issues". After swiping him a few times they have become best mates and often curl up & sleep together when they think we aren't looking. Shanook loves having little "psyche out" moments where she bounces off walls and runs up & down our hall and she loves climbing to the highest spot in the place - on top of the bookcase. But her favourite spot is on top of the lounge where she can sit with us and watch TV while keeping one eye on her little brother who sits below her. Attached are some photo's, thanks for bringing her into our lives we couldn't imagine them without her! Liz & Drew (8 August 2007)

Tessie and Jazzie (formerly Gypsy and Alice) Hi Everyone, Both of these beautiful girls have settled in really well. Gypsy (now Tessie) had a rough start....We adopted her on Saturday and by Sunday her incision from being desexed had gotten infected so we took her into our local vets for vet care since we live 5 hrs from Sydney. Now she's doing great and plays a lot with Alice (now Jazzie) and my older cat Tink. Quite often my floor rugs go flying as they slide across them. Jazzie is the worst when it comes to attacking floor rugs. Between all 3 of my beautiful kittys there is no peace.....they love to eat and start bugging us for food early in the morning. I have them all on a natural diet and they think it's the best thing since catnip. Thankyou, Kim & David (6 August 2007)

Shevina Hi guys Just a quick note to let you know how Shevina is doing (we kept her Sydney Dogs & Cats Home name). We adopted her in March 2005 and now she is very much part of the family! She loves sleeping and eating (and is now a very healthy 6.5kg!). She has a great little personality and is very affectionate. Here is a photo of her sleeping on one of her favourite things - the couch. Alisha and Steve (3 August 2007) |

Macca Hi there, We adopted Macca a few weeks ago, and he has settled right into our place. Everyone loves him and he's a really great cat! He loves being outside and climbing trees and is very adventurous, but we supervise him because his nature is so gentle and we'd hate him to get into a fight. But he's been practising his pouncing in the garden with lizards and bees. Here he is just livin' the life, relaxing on the lounge and he loves to sit on anyone's lap. He's having a great time! Moggsie (formerly known as Rainbow) On 23rd June this year I came to your shelter to find myself a new friend. After much deliberation I chose a beautiful little white & tabby female called Rainbow whom I have now renamed Moggsie. She took to me straight away & her eyes said 'pick me, pick me'. She has some funny little quirks such as drinking from the toilet & sink & waiting outside the bath or shower so she can jump in afterwards & lick it clean. Such a crazy cat. She has certainly settled in to her new home well & has also made my other cat Timmy very happy as he was getting a bit lonely. I feel that I have done a good service in saving Moggsie from death row & I know that if she could talk she would thank me for giving her a second chance & you for looking after her so well in the interim. Kind Regards Wendy & Moggsie. (31 July 2007) |

Chiana (formerly known as Denise) Hello to all the staff at the Sydney Dogs & Cats Home. Chiana (formerly known as Denise) is settling in very well with her new family. She has a new feline friend, who was an RSPCA rescue as well as a canine friend. Chi is very affectionate and loves to play with everything. She is a special cat, and has an unusual trait, in that she is unable to speak. She will quite often open her mouth to meow, but nothing ever comes out. But that doesn't matter because her adopted sister Samantha makes up for the lost noise! Anyway, thank you very much for looking after her before I had her, she is very much loved here now! From Amie (29 July 2007)

Molly Thought I would send you through some pics of our Molly - she escaped death row and is now living it up at Bondi. As you can see after only three weeks she has settled in very well to her new pad and we absolutely adore her.....she is getting very spoilt indeed! If you could pass this on to the other ladies at the office that would be great, Anna (19 July 2007)

Thomas (formerly known as Marmalade) Dear All, Just wanted to drop you an email to let you all know how Thomas is doing. Thomas settled into his new home very quickly, making the couch his new favourite spot to have an afternoon snooze. It's really great to say that he is such an affectionate cat that loves to give me cuddles and also loves to have a chat. He has quite a few distinct purr's, and I really love the one with a slight trill to it. I think that is when he is having a chat to me. He jumps up on the bed to give for a cuddle each morning, and really loves his daily brush. I bought some toys and manage to have a little play time with him each day. He loves to run up and down the hall chasing the mini tennis balls that I got for him. It's quite funny to watch him run and slide on the timber floor boards. I sometimes wonder if Thomas thinks he is a dog as he likes to follow me around and sits at my feet whenever I do anything. I can not thank you all enough for Thomas. He has brought me such joy and much laughter in the week an a half that we have had together. He is a very special cat and I think he realizes that he has been given a second chance at life. Once again thank you all. Its wonderful to have him in my life. Regards, Eugene (and Thomas) (5 May 2007)

Cleo (formerly known as Clover) Hi to all at the Sydney Dogs & Cats Home, I just wanted to tell you how Cleo (previously known as Clover) has settled into her new home. Within 30 minutes of arriving, she was purring and smooching up to us. She loved her scratching post and cat bed we had ready for her. Cleo loves company and follows us from room to room, which suits us just fine as we love her to bits! She loves playing with all her new toys and watching the birds out the window. Other times she loves to curl up on the lounge with us. We want to say a BIG thankyou to Tracey, who had been fostering Cleo since she was 10 days old until we were lucky enough to adopt her. Here's some pictures of Cleo we hope you like. Keep up the great work! Rylee & Rocky (10 April 2007)

Gem Hi to everyone @ Sydney Dogs & Cats Home, Just a little note to let you know that Gem has settled in very well @ his new home. He is such a sweetie.....full of confidence and cheek. He certainly made friends quickly with the existing felines in the family......and I have a feeling that he could even become top cat once he is full grown. Gem is growing quickly...eating like all growing teenage boys should........ Gem's favourite new games are stalking his big brother Neptuna....and digging in the backyard when I give him a walk on my weekends.....He loves to get his white paws extra black and grubby..... Me and Matty are so so so happy to have Gem in our family...and we thank all the staff @ Sydney Dogs & Cats Home for looking after him until he could stay with us @ his forever home..... Minnie and Barney Rubble
(formerly known as Maya and Tiger) Hello,
Just wanted to send through some pics & let you know how
Maya, renamed Minnie & Tiger, now Barney Rubble are getting
along. We adopted Minnie in January & Barney in March. We
also have a one-eyed ginger cat called Jack & apart from the
odd scrap they are all getting along famously! Minnie is a
timid wee thing & likes her peace & quiet so she keeps to
herself a lot but is slowly coming out of her shell & loves
tickles under the chin & attention in small doses. Barney is
a real live wire & he & Jack spend every morning (starting
at 6am) & most evenings chasing each other up & down our
hallway & into the garden. Barney is also an absolute little
pig and after eating his food, he normally finishes off Jack
& Minnie's too! Anyway, just wanted to let you know they
are both doing well & we love them to bits! Have attached
some photos of them both (& their brother Jack!) Kind
Regards & good luck rehoming all the babies you have!
Juliette

Toby Hello Everyone, I wanted to update everyone at Sydney Dogs & Cats Home about Toby, the cameo/white cat who I recently adopted. From the moment I saw him I thought he was the one for me and Rosie. Rosie my other cat had recently lost her brother of 6 years, Rocky who passed away suddenly in January this year. I felt she needed a friend, so I went to the shelter and I was recommended to have a look at Toby. Although I did look at other cats, there was something about Toby which made him stand out to me. I think it was his laid back and gentle character. As soon as he arrived home he made himself at home. It was as if he had lived here all his life. Rosie took a little while to accept him but I know she is happy to have new friend to play with. He is such a lovely cat, and he has the funniest meow. I have really fallen for him in the few weeks we have been together and I think he likes his new home. He wakes me up every morning early to be fed, which is something which Rocky used to do. In fact he has a lot of Rocky's traits which really amazes me. Thanks to everyone at the Sydney Dogs & Cats Home for taking him in and looking after him. I can't say enough about the wonderful work they do for the cats and dogs. I know Toby would like to thank everyone there and say hello. Here are a few photos of him in his new home. I think you will agree he is a happy boy. I love him very much. Thanks for all your hard work. Sue (9 April 2007)

Hayley Hi, We collected Hayley from the shelter back in March - we spotted her on your website and fell in love with her gorgeous little face immediately so it was just a case of making time to come and pick her up. She ventured outside for the first time recently and despite our concerns that we would never see her again, she seems to actually prefer to be indoors with us rather than outside. She plays in the garden and eats the grass now and again but her favourite game is to play with her toys and bring them back to us when we throw them for her. So the short of it is, we think Hayley is part dog! We thought it was funny and a one off the first time she did it but as she continues to fetch her ball and drop it at our feet we can only assume that her IQ must be rather high for a kitten! It amazes me really, I never knew cats were so intelligent. Click here to see a video of her fetching the ball. I have to say getting Hayley is the best thing we ever did - she is the loveliest, friendliest and really the funniest cat I have ever known. Her first birthday was only a few weeks ago and she still has lots of kitten tendencies which makes her the lovable little thing that she is. Thanks team! Jane (1 May 2007) |
