An update on Grace - Of Merlin and Grace

Gracie
I came home with my mum on 16th July 2009. It was a sad day but also a happy day. I said goodbye to my beautiful big pal, Merlin, who lost his fight with bone cancer but it was a happy day because I was going to my forever home.
I was very lucky because my mum had known me since the day I came into SDCH. She would always take Merlin and I for walks and even brought us both home, many times, for hours of wandering around the garden and lying in the sun together.
I have three new animal brothers, two dogs and a cat, who is much bigger than me. At first, I tried to be the top dog but soon found out that was not going to happen. My 15 year old brother is the boss. Even though I still jump into his bed when he’s not there and occasionally growl when he wants to reclaim it.
I have teamed up with my dashund brother and at first would play with him all the time. I spend a lot of the time sleeping with him in his bed. I’ve even got on top of him once like I did with Merlin. Quite often we all play musical beds and nobody is in the right bed. At the moment I enjoy sleeping in the cat igloo.
I have settled in now because I no longer follow mum all around the house. I’m quite happy to sit outside in the garden or relax with the rest of the gang on the couch. I have the routine down pat. I know when it is food time and will remind mum about supper before she goes to bed. I enjoy my food and will eat everything that is put in my bowl. I know when it is walk time and have two everyday. Of course, you still find me way out in front while my brothers lag behind. I always enjoy a good bark at the staffy and Labrador that live up the road.
My human sister says that I am a wuss and mum agrees. I scream if I think the cat is going to scratch me or if something falls and it comes nowhere near me. I still hate the vacuum cleaner and brooms and hide under the bed when there is lightning and thunder.
I always drive mum and my cat brother mad at dinner time. I’m very impatient waiting for my food. I run round and round the island bar, whining, growling and barking at the cat. I do this for about ten minutes until I get my food. The cat is very good because he just sits there and tries to ignore me.
My new family love me. Mum calls me Gracie Queen. She even nurses me when my brothers aren’t looking. It’s very competitive when we are all trying to get attention. But being so small I always manage to push in and get plenty. I’m a very lucky girl.

Chin Chin aka Tiger
Hi,
We adopted Chin-Chin on 4/9/09, and have changed his name to Tiger (over 30 years our 3rd ginger cat named Tiger), he has settled in well to his new
home, we kept him indoors for the first month, but now through the day he comes and goes via his cat door, he sleeps on our bed every night until he
is let out around 5am. Tiger is a lovely natured little boy and we are so happy with him,he has made friends with a siamese cat who lives over the
back fence, although they tend to ignore each other most of the time, Tiger was only naughty once when he knocked the bird cage off its stand, but
everyone survived and I think Tiger got more of a shock than the birds (especially when Andrew threatened to send him back to the orphanage). He
bought a rat into the dining room the other night, a lovely present indeed.
Hope "Red" has found a good home, he was the boy we originally went to adopt, but settled on Chin-Chin instead.
Regards
Lee and Andrew

Maggie aka Mrs Doubtfire
Hi guys,
Just thought I would send through a couple of pictures of Maggie, who we adopted from you guys a few weeks ago. She's loving living with my housemate Amali and I - we've renamed her Mrs Doubtfire. She's super friendly - skitzes out at least once a night, but we just throw some pink mesh at her and she lets it all out. She's a great cat though - feels like we've had her forever.
Enjoy the pics!
Cheers
Katie

D.J.
DJ looks like half the dog he was when I met him. He has filled bags and bags...... and more bags....... with his winter coat. I have attached a couple of photos. I am finding it hard to get pictures of his face because he either stays too close to me or comes bounding over when he spots me and by the time the digital camera has caught the image DJ is just a huge nose in the lens. He is a fantastic companion and a great mate. We are both happy to have someone special to share our lives with. On behalf of DJ and myself thanks for putting the two of us together.
Until next time.....
Neil and DJ
A special thanks to "Husky Rescue"arranging this partnership

Bonson, Cooper, Charlie and Sam
Hi, just to let you know four years on the animals I got from Sydney Dogs & Cats home are going strong, and loving life. Boson (the big dog), Cooper (the little dog), Charlie & Sam (two cats-brothers) are all healthy and happy, thanks to their initial care from your organization, and they live in our big house near the beach on the Central Coast. I am so glad I rescued them all. They are all part of the family and I highly recommend animal adoption to anyone thinking of helping out a four legged friend.

Lotus
Just wanted to send you all a few pics of Lotus in her new home!
We are so glad that Lotus has joined our family. She is just the most beautiful, loving loyal creature! we could not imagine life without her!
She goes on many walks a day and as you probaly know is ball crazy! Whenever or wherever we go she manages to find a ball somewhere! This morning she found a ball in the bushes down at the park but managed to drop it in the harbour on our way back to the falt. she didnt know what to do!
Also Lotus is a keen swimmer and loves the water! She also is a keen sleeper and will happily sleep away the day on the couch snoring her head off and probably dreaming of tennis balls!
After having her soft palate corrected and her nostrils widened she can now go on lots longer walks and chase the ball alot easier. She does still snore her head off, but thats cute anyway.
Thank you yet again for saving Lotus from the pound and giving her to us! we absolutley love her!
Kind Regards,
Gina and Seth.
